Ghana Breaks from Debt
Public-Engagement Campaign
Report published · May 2025
Background & Objectives
Three headlines captured March 2025 in Accra:
- “Ghana Embarks on Historic Journey to a Debt-Free Economy.”
- “Breaking Free from Debt: C2C Monetary System Arrives.”
- “A Call to Action: Rev. Franck Boh Champions Real-Value Money.”
Those stories followed a month-long Globalgood campaign that planted the Credit-to-Credit (C2C) Monetary System inside President Mahama’s “Resetting Ghana” national dialogue. Our purpose was clear:
- move the C2C concept from think-tank circles into mainstream public debate
- equip citizens and opinion-shapers with bilingual learning tools
- pave the way for formal, high-level conversations with the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Ghana
Although repeated requests for meetings with those offices are still awaiting scheduling, the public conversation is now unmistakably under way.

Financial Snapshot — March Outreach
Donor support of about sixty-thousand US dollars delivered:
- two policy round-tables in Accra that gathered former finance ministers, parliamentary committee members, cocoa-sector officials and civil-society voices
- four livestream town-halls from Kumasi, Tamale, Cape Coast and Ho, each translated in real time into Twi and Ewe and simul-cast on partner FM stations
- a bilingual pocket guide “A Cedi That Holds Its Value” — 1 500 copies printed and distributed to MPs, journalists, student unions and faith networks
- a barrage of radio call-ins, TV panels and newspaper op-eds that carried the debt-free money narrative nationwide
Audited numbers will appear in Globalgood’s half-year 2025 statement.

What Your Gift Will Achieve
Your support will help spark a nationwide conversation in Ghana about transitioning to a credit-based economy — one that is inclusive, informed, and ready for lasting reform. With your gift, we will:
- Host four high-impact town halls across key cities in Ghana, expected to draw over 52,000 online viewers. These events will also be relayed via FM radio, reaching an estimated 10,000 additional listeners across diverse communities.
- Engage lawmakers directly by preparing a plain-language legal memo for Members of the Parliamentary Finance Committee — outlining the steps needed to develop a C2C-compatible Ghanaian cedi and initiating formal policy discussions.
- Brief leading financial institutions as banking executives from at least five commercial banks are expected to request practical briefings on how full-reserve ledgers can be integrated within their existing core banking software systems.
- Ignite national media coverage through partnerships with major outlets such as GTV, Joy News, Citi FM, Peace FM, Daily Graphic, and Business & Financial Times — ensuring that the C2C conversation reaches millions of Ghanaians and helps shape public opinion.
Your gift will make these pivotal moments possible — creating the momentum needed to bring credit-backed money to the forefront of Ghana’s financial future.

Organizational Footprint in Ghana
Globalgood is filing for not-for-profit registration in Ghana. The local office will co-ordinate policy briefings, school and community programs in all sixteen regions and serve as the base for West Africa’s English-speaking C2C outreach.
Next Steps & Funding Needs
- Secure high-level meetings. Briefing packets, legal-issues white paper and follow-up travel to obtain appointments with the Ministry of Finance and Bank of Ghana. Target: USD 120 000.
- Expand citizen education. Radio dramas in major languages, youth debate contests and mobile-friendly explainer videos rolled out through Q4 2025. Target: USD 130 000.
- Draft options paper for Parliament. Commission local legal scholars to map C2C-ready amendments and present findings at a parliamentary retreat. Target: USD 100 000.
Total immediate gap: roughly three-hundred-and-fifty thousand US dollars.

Call to Action
Ghanaian citizens are asking, “If not debt, what then?” Your continued support will turn that question into a workable answer and keep the C2C option firmly on the national agenda.
